As a community project Cranleigh Men's Shed were delighted to be asked to install five new seats and repair three of the gates at the Beryl Harvey Conservation area, next to the allotments off Knowle Lane.

Funded by the Cranleigh & District Lions Club, the men’s shed team lead by Gareth our “Green Wood” expert, dug out and replaced 5 seats in the conservation area, together with the repair and replacement of gate posts.

The site had to be cleared and new  holes for the post dug.

The wood arrives

The timber was carefully chosen to be naturally durable to avoid the use of any preservatives in the conservation area, local Oak being selected for the seats and gate posts, with Douglas Fir for the seat posts.

Drilling the Base Supports

The seat posts were pre drilled for concealed fixings at the workshop and all the material was then carried to the site for installation.
