MEMBER'S OWN PROJECTS
About us and our History
Formed in the Spring of 2017 as a Cranleigh Arts Centre project, Cranleigh Men’s Shed started with 6 members working in the pottery room at the rear of the Arts Centre.
With a few donated tools, plus whatever members brought from home, the group began to design and make items out of reclaimed pallets.
As membership grew and projects increased, In the Spring of 2019 and thanks to the generosity of a local landowner, we were offered the temporary use of an empty building at the rear of Cromwell's coffee house.
With a bit of cleaning and TLC, new locks and the benefit of a retired electrician on the team, the shed was soon wired up and operational.
Very soon the shed was fully kitted out and somewhere we could call our new home!
In September 2021, we were forced to move again, but this time on a more permanent basis to a much larger building in Knowle Lane.
Again, an amount of work was required to make it 'home' but with our willing, now increased membership of shedders,' it was ready in no time at all!
We have been fortunate to receive support for our work through donations and grants.
